The EV Charging Nation editorial policy governs independent guidance for residential, multifamily, workplace, and small-commercial EV charging projects. It explains how we research claims, describe products and services, handle corrections, and separate editorial decisions from compensation.
Our editorial purpose
Our job is to help a reader understand the installation decision before choosing equipment or a service provider. We are a publisher, not an electrical contractor, engineering firm, utility, permit authority, or charger manufacturer.
Articles may explain questions to ask and evidence to request. They do not replace an electrical load calculation, site design, permit review, licensed installation, inspection, or advice from the authority having jurisdiction.
How we choose topics
We prioritize questions that change a real project decision: charging need, site constraints, electrical capacity, connection method, installed cost, equipment compatibility, permits, incentives, commissioning, billing, and operating responsibility.
Search demand can help us identify a question, but it does not justify irrelevant coverage or unsupported certainty. We keep homeowner, multifamily, and commercial intents distinct when their decisions differ.
Sources and fact checking
We prefer sources closest to the claim, including:
- federal, state, local, utility, and permitting authorities;
- official standards, safety-listing directories, and certification databases;
- manufacturer manuals, specifications, warranty terms, and support documents for exact models;
- program administrators for incentives, rates, managed charging, and eligibility;
- original datasets and clearly attributed expert material.
We use secondary reporting to locate issues and perspectives, not as a substitute for an available primary source. Community discussions can reveal common questions but do not establish electrical requirements or product performance.
Code editions, permits, utility rules, prices, incentives, product availability, tax treatment, and program terms can change. Relevant claims should state their date, geography, model, and other limits. Local requirements are qualified to the authority having jurisdiction.
Product comparisons and reviews
“Best” means best for a defined installation scenario—not best for everyone. Comparison criteria can include safety-listing evidence, connection method, supported current, connector, location rating, cable reach, controls, warranty, support, utility compatibility, and current availability.
We do not claim hands-on testing, ownership, installer experience, or measured performance unless that work actually occurred and the methodology is explained. Research-based reviews are labeled and rely on cited product evidence. A sample, discount, affiliate relationship, or sponsorship must be disclosed; none guarantees inclusion or a positive conclusion.
Prices are snapshots, not promises. Readers should verify the current price, specification, listing, and warranty before buying.
Safety and scope
We do not publish step-by-step instructions for unqualified readers to open electrical equipment, size conductors, alter overcurrent protection, or perform other hazardous electrical work. We may explain the purpose of a decision so a reader can discuss it with a licensed professional.
We avoid guarantees about passing inspection, receiving an incentive, avoiding a panel upgrade, obtaining a particular charging speed, or paying a national “standard” price.
Authors, review, and AI-assisted work
Bylines identify the actual person or organization responsible for the published work. We do not invent expert personas, credentials, social profiles, field projects, or customer experience.
Research, drafting, editing, or analysis may use AI-assisted tools. That assistance does not become a source. Factual claims still require source review, and publication remains subject to editorial checks for accuracy, relevance, clarity, safety, originality, and commercial disclosure.
Editorial illustrations may be generated. They are visual context, not photographs of completed projects, product tests, permit drawings, or wiring instructions. We do not use generated imagery to manufacture evidence.
Commercial independence
EV Charging Nation may receive compensation from qualified installation-help calls, affiliate links, advertising, sponsorships, or paid expert contributions. Editorial criteria apply whether or not a company pays us. Compensation does not purchase a favorable ranking, remove material drawbacks, or exclude a strong non-paying option.
When a material relationship applies, we use plain language close to the relevant call, link, comparison, or sponsored material. A footer link alone is not treated as sufficient disclosure.
Read the affiliate and commercial disclosure
Sponsored and contributed content
Sponsored material is visibly labeled and reviewed for topical fit, claim support, safety, and usefulness. Paid links use the appropriate sponsored-link treatment. Payment does not permit undisclosed advertorial, link-only guest posts, fake authorship, copied material, or claims the sponsor cannot support.
An unpaid expert contribution is also identified accurately. Contributor access does not guarantee coverage or control of the conclusion.
Updates and corrections
We update content when evidence, product status, program terms, or reader needs materially change. A displayed updated date should reflect a substantive review, not a cosmetic timestamp change.
When a factual error affects a reader's decision, we correct it promptly and clarify the material change when context requires. Smaller wording, formatting, and link repairs may be made without a formal note.
To report an error, send the page URL, the disputed passage, and the strongest supporting source through the contact page. We review credible evidence; we do not promise to change an accurate conclusion because a subject dislikes it.
